Premier Christy Clark shrinks The World Accorded to Bloy - Harry Bloy out as Social Development Minister

"And he's back to selling Christy for leader yellow T-shirts"
Premier Christy Clark has taken The World Accorded to Bloy and shrunk it considerably.

Harry Bloy's reign as the hapless Minister of Social Development is mercifully over after Clark did the obvious - demoted Bloy after a series of errors and failure to learn on the job.

It went on longer than it should have because, after all, membership has its privileges and Harry Bloy was the only BC Liberal MLA to be in the "I Support Christy Clark for Leader" club during the party leadership battle.

And he stays on as Minister of State for Multiculturalism, a junior job that still leaves Bloy room for creating and international incident or two.

It's a reminder that politics is a tough game and even the premier's patronage has its limits.

Bloy is replaced by Stephanie Cadieux, who is replaced as Labour Minister by Margaret MacDiarmid - the BC Teachers Federation will be thrilled at that appointment!  MacDiarmid as Education Minister was at loggerheads repeatedly with the BCTF, as well as the Vancouver Board of Education.

A BCTF news release in January 2010 gives the flavour of that relationship:

“As news comes in from around the province about potential teacher layoffs, school closures, and dramatic budget shortfalls, Minister of Education Margaret MacDiarmid is in denial about her government’s role in these devastating cuts, BCTF President Irene Lanzinger said today.

'From the Lower Mainland and the Island to the North and Interior, school districts are speaking out about devastating cuts they will have to make because of government cutbacks and underfunding,' said Lanzinger. 'Instead of taking the warnings seriously, the minister has been busy denying the problem, making up excuses, and blaming school districts.'
"
Now Lanzinger is the BC Federation of Labour Secretary-Treasurer.  Should be a swell meeting next time - say, during a BCTF job action?
Some parliamentary secretaries were switched around as well but there was really only one move - Bloy out the door.

Clark seemed a little testy in speaking to reporters today about the, err, non-demotion.

“It’s a refocusing of Harry Bloy’s responsibilities,”  Clark said. “You’ll interpret it how you like.”

It's no longer a Bloy's World.

I feel sorry for Harry. I think he is a good person. He should admit he made a big mistake supporting C. Clark. If he resigns and requests an election, he might get re elected.
Harry do the right thing, others will follow.

If the photo-op Premier wants to reward Bloy, put him back as deputy chair of Committee of whole. It pays the same, and his vocabulary is limited to identifying "Ministers" and "Members."

Put it this way: Harry Bloy's so smart he ran a payphone company in in world filled with cell phones!

I wonder when the Liberal caucus will "refocus" Christy's responsibilities?

This news was expected. Mrs Clark had to reward Mr.Bloy. It certainly shows she is just a incompetent fearless leader that we, the people, must fear. I feel there are responsible liberal MLAs that must step forward and remove her. I have lost count of the disenchanted that have abandoned the cause of Mrs. Clark.
Mr. Campbell and Mr. Hanson have been silent as to the HST. They were so assertive in the beginning. I assume they are ashamed of their introduction of the HST. Mr. Falcon must resign as he has lost the confidence of all.
Only an election will clear the political climate. Let the people vote.

A minor shuffling of the deck chairs on the Titanic. Nothing really new or news worthy and the ship will still sink.

Come on now crusty, its time to go. You have lost the confidence of your party, your cabinet, and more importantly the people. We cannot take any more of the BS that you and your people are spreading. We cannot afford to lose anymore of our province to your friends. Call that election, I dare you! Time for the people to get out into the streets, get the word out, and defeat these criminals. Explain again to me crusty, why two people inside your government, taking bribes from your friends, are found guilty and WE the people of BC give them the six million dollars bailout? Hop aboard the "BC Rail" toga party car with those two, also include your family members, and that slimy MSM. They are as guilty as your gang of thieves are. Off you go now ms photo-op, the party for you (and the lieberals) is over.

Harry has had a history of spectacular crash and burns.

Nothing new here, and nothing new in this comment:

"A minor shuffling of the deck chairs on the Titanic. Nothing really new or news worthy and the ship will still sink"

Remember the same thing happening when the NDP was in power, but they changed captains so many times, the ship was way off course.

Interesting commentary from Kam. Wonder what he would do if the NDP became government? Sing and prance through a meadow spotted with yellow buttercups amongst the bright green natural grass on a wamr sunny day??

Love the "explain to me". So why should she personally explain anything personally to Kam? Is he better than anyone else? If he is so adamant, go to her constituency office and file a request for meeting.

I have e-mailed Christy. I have e-mailed some of the ministers with questions. They were not nasty e-mails either. Not once was there a reply.

Rather than working with the people, the Campbell/Clark BC Liberals work against us.

Falcon constantly threatened the citizens, if the HST referendum was won by the people. Instead of working on a solution, that would be the best for every aspect in BC, he dishes out threats.

Now we are seeing, Americans winning contracts in BC. The dismantling of the smelter in Port Kitimat, is an American company who brought their workers from the U.S.

Christy's job plans for BC, are to give our jobs to the Americans.

Christy can shift her cabinet all she likes, nothing is going to help this province nor the people.

BC has been sold out. What is left to recover with? Giving American company's our jobs, does nothing for the BC people, what-so-ever.

Wonder how kindly ole Harry feels towards the leadership candidate he supported so whole-heartedly after she dumps him so publicly on his ass?

Harry had contributed greatly on his own for being publicly dumped on his ass. He didn't need any help from Christy. She just confirmed what alot of people know about Bloy.

After reading the nine comments posted on this subject, it is apparent that Mrs. Clark lives in the bubble spun by her handlers. Can she not see that the liberal MLAs are stale dated and must be replaced. The people do want an election. She just want the glory. Mrs Clark there is no glory in being an unelected leader. The people fear you as disgrace to this Province. On the fourth of October will you really attend the Order of BC awards. Can you see London from the ivory tower in your make believe world. You have a face for radio but not leadership. If I googled failure, would your picture appear?

Facebook is just another corporate monster. It is not held responsible to any human or nation. The income is subsidized

The fact is the far right is calling the shots right now and they are driving the western world into the muck.

As opposed to the left which drove the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe into the muck?

Kind of a hypocritical statement considering most computers are Apple (corporation) or IBM based and use Microsoft operating systems (corporation), the internet is fed through equipment made by other corporations, the PCs at home are made by yet another corporation, and the commentator uses transportation built by other corporations...

Let me make a final comment. Which is that the liberals are going to have to call an election soon. The issue will be, Teachers.Mrs.Clark and her families first policy will cry for a mandate to deal with the subject.
It appears that the best way to convince her Royal Queenie, is to feed her big fat ego that she is the answer to combat the union and or unions. I think other lib MLA s are sick of her for rewarding Mr. Bloy and by passing other more capable personnel. Mr. Murray Coell is and has been a true gentleman. Where as Mrs. Chong has been a true disgrace.Where is Mr. Hanson,is he not a person of high IQ?
I must conclude by stating the old proverb " bring it on" let clear the political air and end Mrs. Clark fair tail.Let her get her tail some where else, like on the radio.

Electoion is scheduled for 2013, or maybe Fall of 2012.

Be in the NDP campaign office when it happens.

Some one is needed to park the bicyles.

I appreciate the offer to park bicycles at the campaign office of any party.Does that job also have the benefit of parking Jaguars?
