I saw Tomas Baczkowski's car among others, like Mark Tewksbury's, in the parade.

Naturally I kept my eye open for the political delegations. Hedy Fry and Michael Ignatieff had a smaller group than Jack Layton and the NDP, but it was better organized and more colourful. The NDP effort looked like it was organized by a faceless Yvonne Cocke disciple. Get a couple of banners together identifying the party, and then march a few people behind it providing the average viewer with absolutely no clue as to who the Hell any of them might be. All the imagination of a wet dish rag.

On a personal basis, Jack Layton was great, dressed casually but with enough colour to be visible and was personally waving a rainbow flag and going over to the edges to engage the crowd.

Carole James didn't make it this year, but I am told she will be ther for 2008. Let's hope by then the party "organizers" can get a life and find some degree of imagination.
